The Chairman of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Mohsin Aziz announced that textile exports rose by 10% in April 2012 against the month of March 2012. He said that this increase was solely due to the availability of a reliable energy supply to the industry ensured by the Minister for Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain and the Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar under the direction of President Asif Zardari. As a result, textile exports rose to $1.14 billion in April against approximately $1 billion in March 2012.
