Rawalpindi mosque attack

At least 35 people were killed and many injured after an attack by militants at a mosque near Chohar Chowk area, in Rawalpindi on Friday 4th December. Sources claim that five to seven assailants hit the mosque shortly after Friday prayers.

Ambulances rushed to the scene of the blast located near the army headquarters and offices of the intelligence agencies.   Interior Minister Rehman Malik says two suicide bombers blew themselves up one after the other inside the mosque, causing the roof of the building to collapse. Nine officers, including Major General Omar Bilal, a brigadier, two lieutenant colonels and two majors were killed. Seventeen children were also among the dead.
