Italy finances the reconstruction of the Swat Museum

The Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani, officially inaugurated the new Swat Museum on November 11^th in Saidu Sharif.                                                                                        Italian ambassador touring the exhibition

Italian Archaeologists have been operating in Pakistan over 60 years ago, with the first surveys conducted in 1955 by Prof. Giuseppe Tucci, the famous Tibetologist and Orientalist, whom established a permanent mission of the Italian Institute of Far and Middle Eastern Studies as from 1956.

The Swat Archaeological Museum was originally built in 1958 with a master plan designed by the Italian architect Vittorio Caroli and was damaged by the 2005 earthquake first and a bomb blast in 2008.
