HBL donates Rs 10 million in aid to Hunza Valley IDPs

Habib Bank Limited (HBL), Pakistan’s largest network based bank, has donated Rs10 million to assist the affectees of the swelling lake in Hunza Valley. These funds will be utilized to benefit the internally displaced persons in the affected areas.
A few months ago a landslide hit the Hunza Valley in Gilgit-Balistan, which killed 19 and buried the whole village of Attabad. Attabad Payeen, Attabad Bala and Sarat were the three villages hit directly by the landslide, forming a barrier on the Hunza River, causing water to gather and form a lake which now spreads over 11km.
The cheque was presented to Governor Gilgit-Baltistan, Ms Shama Khalid by the HBL Area Manager for Gilgit-Skardu, Mr Jahanzaib Mir at the Serena Hotel in Gilgit. Chairman HBL Mr. Sultan Allana was also present at the occasion.
Mr. Jahnazaib Mir said, “We at HBL think that working together is the only way through which we can overcome the problems that have been caused by this catastrophe. We believe that our contribution will reach and help the people restore their lives in the Hunza Valley.”
 “We thank HBL, for their contribution and concern for the affectees of Hunza Valley, around 10,000 people were the victims of this catastrophe”, Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Ms. Shama Khalid said.  “We appreciate the support extended by HBL in this regard, this contribution will help us help re-establish the lives of the residents of Hunza Valley.”
