Singapore Airlines, which had three weekly flights to Karachi and Lahore, has decided to end its operations in Pakistan from February 17. It is seen as a blow to the aviation industry, battered as it is by the deteriorating security situation and economic slowdown.

Pakistan has been wiped off from the radar of some of the leading foreign carriers since the country became a frontline state in the war on terror in 2002, says a report in The News International. British Airways stopped flights in 2008 just months after German airline Lufthansa cut down on flights to Karachi.
